Mental mind pictures spring into our head when we think of our ideal life scenario. Maybe we see a more prestigious home or a stylish vehicle in our mind’s eye. Nearly every one of us will picture ourselves as slimmer and more attractive, with stylish clothes to wear.

Whiling away such thoughts is useful. Knowing what we want to have is essential to determining how our lives might be. Unless we have a vision of how things will look when we’ve reached the lofty heights of our personal success, we’ve little chance of ever getting there.

Positive visualisation alone won’t bring results though. We must accept that changes will be needed. “The definition of insanity,” according to Albert Einstein, “is to do the same thing and expect different results.” Said another way – we’ll always have what we’ve always had if we’re not prepared to change the things we do.

We need to not only massively change the way we do things, but also massively change the way we think. Only then will we make big steps forward in what we have. Not a big revelation then to realise that a smidgen of exertion will be needed to get the things we want to have. It’s a basic law of life that we have to give in order to receive. Though effort alone won’t inevitably bring results.

Those who achieve their life’s goals adopt and internalise those goals long before they become a reality. That means if our goal is to reduce our weight by thirty pounds in the next year, we have to become a diligent diet student and stick to a certain amount of work-out time every week.

Working out each day has to come before meeting up with friends. The success mind-set says there’ll be lots more time for leisure later on (and more energy to enjoy it!) if the effort is put in first. A healthy attitude to dieting makes the slimming process easier, and brings results much faster.

We don’t succeed because we’re lucky! Maintaining a solid approach is an essential foundation to guard against the doubts and criticisms we may have to endure.

We can associate with winning attitudes by reading, watching films and interviews of others who’ve overcome adversities on their road to victory. A common philosophy seems to be apparent each time – their beliefs and attitudes were strong from the start. So the formula is apparent – to have what we want, and relish the tasks we need to do, we must first embrace who we have to be.

Losing weight is for a lot of people something that feels like a struggle in many ways. It may seem like something that just dont work however hard they try. To give an example; Maybe someone was under-stimulated as a child and therefore was feeling bored a lot of the time. Then the person began to turn to food to give himself some sense of entertainment. This formed a habit and now, whenever the person feels bored, he grabs for something to eat. Since it is an unconscious pattern, he might believe that feeling bored and being under-stimulated is something he just is and do not even consider, at this stage, the possibility of changing this pattern.

In this case it is important to go to the core of what is actually making the person eat, instead of just trying to stop eating as much. Look at this feeling and find ways to heal it. This can be done with hypnosis, nlp, by beginning to focus on what it really is the person wants, positive affirmations, EFT(emotional freedom technique) and forgiveness of the past, to mention a few possible tools.

When you release whats at the core of this pattern, the behavior thats related to it will no longer be triggered and excessive eating is no longer a problem.

There are many other reasons for overweight and what is important is to find out what rings true for you and find out what it is that will work for you.
